Reports from Bernama cannot be wrong or accused of misquotation. Read what Bernama reported on Najib's "deceptive" statement to Malaysian student in France here.

I reproduce parts of Najib's "deceptive" statement in italic and my comment in red.

Tan Sri Mohd Isa Samad who had served punishment (for money politics) that was meted out by the party (Umno), was chosen as Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Bagan Pinang by-election, because he is capable of winning and very popular among the people, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Money politics (CORRUPTIONS) a term set by umno in order that their members can be punished by the party and not the law of the country. So, here "deceptive" Najib is telling us that corruptions within an organization is not against the law of the country. Is this to mean that if I am caught for corruption in the company that I work for, the law cannot touch me if my boss suspended me for 3 months without pay because this is a private matter between me and my company?

The question here is whether he deserved a second chance or not. In our system, even a criminal gets a second chance and can contest the post after serving his or her punishment.

I have to use Lim Kit Siang's reply to this "deceptive" statement by Najib:

Nobody would begrudge Isa being given a second chance if he had been fully punished for his offence of corruption, but this is not the case.

There can be no dispute by anyone that money politics whether in Umno or any other political party is pure corruption as has been publicly admitted by the former de facto Minister Datuk Dr. Rais Yatim and the current Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Chief Commissioner, Datuk Seri Ahmad Said Hamdan.

"This (Isa's offence) is only a technical matter in the party and he has already paid for his deeds," said Najib when asked by a student on the decision to pick Isa for Bagan Pinang.

How can Malaysia come to this stage of having such an incorrigible and deceptive leader. Describing Isa's offence for corruption as technical really shows Najib's "1Malaysia, People First Performance Now" means nothing but just hogwash.

Lim Kit Siang put it this way:

Najib’s argument and logic are full of holes and do not stand up to scrutiny. They merely expose the hollowness and hypocrisy of the Najib administration in declaring “fighting corruption” as one of the six NKRA priority areas for constant assessment of “key performance indicators”.
