Malaysia Irresponsible Government Causes The No Mood Syndrome

Malaysiakini 'in blogs' and 'top blogs' highlighted many postings on the irresponsible umno/bn government actions. More st Malaysiakini site.
This blog will not celebrate or make any wishes for all the holidays in the calender year until the Irresponsible Government of umno/bn make amends of the following:

Repeal The ISA
Release all the ISA detainees or charge them in the court of law.

Corruptions
Bring to book all the scoundrels and reclaim back all the billions that are lost.

Make PDRM Carry out Their Duties Without Fear Or Favor.
Get the PDRM to fight real crimes instead of intimidating the innocent people who are just voicing out their concern for the well being of the country.

Incompetence Ministers
Replace all the incompetence Ministers, such as Home Minister Alblur-Blur, defector law Minister Nazir, DPM Najis and practically all the existing Ministers.

Bring The Food And Petrol Prices Down
When global petrol price goes up, Malaysia petrol price also follow the trend and when the world petrol price stumble, Malaysia finds it so hard to bring the price down.
When petrol price rises, all food prices follow by going up. When petrol price fall, food prices are still climbing.

This country is in mourning on the death of FREEDOM And DEMOCRACY while the Irresponsible umno/bn Government, still in power is acting like nothing wrong is happening to this country.

Ketua Polis Selangor - Did You Obey, Uphold And Maintain The Laws Of Malaysia

Malaysiakini reported that the police are still investigating the involvement of MP Dr Jeyakumar and (Jerit). More at Malaysiakini.
Update: The more reason you need to sign this Petition.
From Malaysia Today; "It has become the habit for the government and police to clamp down on those not aligned to Umno while using the palace as the excuse for doing so. “We are just doing what the Sultan ordered,” would be the normal argument. They even use the Sultan’s name to rob us of billions of the rakyat’s money. Podah, we no longer fall for that crap. And we are going to send a petition to the Sultan to protest what the police did. So, please sign the petition and let us get as many signatures as possible. We are going to fight back with a vengeance."
Read Malaysia Today full write up here.

The continuing intimidation and rampant arrest of innocent rakyat who are just voicing out their disagreement with the ruling umno/bn government has shown clearly that PDRM is the tool for umno/bn.

As long as we continue our campaign for change towards a better future, the PDRM being the tool of umno/bn will simply arrest and intimidate anyone to instill fear among us. And worst is that the ketua police will speak with folkfork tongue and lies to justify and defend their rights to arrest.

Haris of "People's Parliament" had initiated this petition:

Petisyen Kepada Duli Yang Maha Mulia Sultan Selangor untuk mengadu berkenaan Ketua Polis Selangor

I copy and paste from Haris's blog for more details.

Please sign the petition and spread this around and post it at your blogs.

This man took an oath to “obey, uphold and maintain the laws of Malaysia” and to execute the powers and duties of his office “honestly and diligently”.

He hasn’t.

He’s shamelessly lied and in recent days, has arrogantly bullied our brave young cyclists who have stepped out to try and make a difference.

And he has demonstrated a seeming determination to undermine the will of the rakyat of Selangor to mobilise and pressure for the repeal of the ISA and the immediate release of all ISA detainees.

The people of Selangor, and every other Malaysian who visits Selangor, deserve better.

Yes, we need protection from this cop.

Can our Sultan help us?

I don’t know, but I think we must try.

By this petition, we seek his royal intervention to :

1. direct the Selangor state government to lodge a complaint with the Police Force Commission in relation to the conduct of CPO Dato Khalid Abu Bakar as hereinstated and, if thought appropriate, to request that the Police Force Commission take such disciplinary measures against the CPO Dato Khalid Abu Bakar as the Police Force Commission thinks fit but, in any event, to transfer CPO Dato Khalid Abu Bakar out of Selangor;and
2) direct the Selangor state government to take all necessary steps to protect the right of the people of Selangor to peaceably assemble without arms.

I apologise at the length of the petition to His Royal Highness, but the team that worked on it felt that we were obliged to appraise His Royal Highness of the fullest possible facts that found our complaint.

The petition, in full, may be accessed HERE.

Like the many other petitions launched through this blog, this petition now belongs to you.

Its success or otherwise, is in your hands.

MalaysiaKini And Chaotic Penang Pt 2

Malaysiakini reports: 1,000 residents barred from returning home at BKT Antarabangsa. My take, will Penang make the same mistake?
You can read my posting on "MalaysiaKini And Chaotic Penang Pt 1" here.

In this posting we continue with "Hill Developments" especially in land scarce Penang.

There are hues and cries over the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide recently and everyone is pointing fingers at each other as to who or what causes that disaster. The ruling government is quick to announce that no more development is to be approved on hill slope at certain degrees and hinting more or less that no one is to be blamed.

The leaders always do not have any answer for the rakyat when "human irresponsible acts" are the causes of catastrophic disasters. We cannot just brush it away assuming it to be an act of God.

There is actually nothing wrong for hillside developments. When land is scare and with the population growing and hunger for housing needs, either you develop towards the seafront or up on the hill.

We can have developments on hillsides if all parties, i.e developers, local councils and consultants conduct a proper study and suitability of the planned development on hill slopes not on the monetary aspect but specifically on the safety aspect. Consultants must be bold enough not to allow the developers to dictate what the developers want regarding the safety factors which usually allows them to cut corners and save on something that may fail years later.

In most developments, the developers always rush to construct the main building and leaving the external infrastructure last so that they can collect the progressive payment on stages of the building constructed from buyers. If this development is on level ground with existing surrounding drainage system then it will not pose much problem.

On hillside development, things will be different where trees were uprooted and the earth surface exposed to rain water. What the local councils and planning consultants need to do is to impose the ruling that all external infrastructures such as roads and drainage system including retaining walls and to complete all slope protections as per planned completion of the project before any building works can commence.

We have many intelligent and experienced engineers and architects who are capable of designing hillside developments. My suspect is that developers who engage these consultants want an easy and fast solution at minimal cost to develop hence bypassing the overall safety measures intentionally or otherwise.

The above are my general opinion and that there may be many other factors and requirements in order to have a more safer ways for hillside developments.

We now zoom in to Penang hillside development. Hillside development started in the early eighties when Low Yat developed the first few condominiums sitting on the hillside along the Tanjong Bungah road leading to Batu Ferringi. The condominium concept was widely acceptable and demand for it starts to grow hence the race to develop high rise condominium along the hill slope. So far there is no report of major slope failure but we must take precaution now to avoid any disaster from happening.

Penang Island is running out of development land for housing and with the population growing where are we to house them. If you build on reclaim land on the sea front, the NGOs and social activists will come after you and when you build on hill land, the NGOs and social activists also will be after you, so the best option is no more housing development on the Island, move to the mainland. Very easy to say, move to the mainland and when you start chopping down the rubber trees, palm oil trees and start refilling the padi fields and swarm land, the good NGOs and social activists will come after you.

There are only two options, "to build" or "not to build".

This option "not to build" is much easier and you do not have to face the wrath of the NGOs and social activists. Work out the remaining available land that can be developed with the number of housing units that can be built plus the existing occupied and unoccupied housing units. Base on average of 8 occupants per unit times the total housing units available, we can get the total number of people for the Island. Lets say the figure is 4 millions, that means Penang Island will forever have a standard population residents of 4 millions, no more than that. No more migrants from other States unless someone is willing to sell off their unit and leave the Island. If you have grown up children, they have to leave the Island in search for their own housing unless you die and leave the house to them. So once you complete all the remaining units and reach the population residents of 4 millions, Penang Island will be free of any housing development. Crazy idea, many readers will have this two words in their mind. Well, I am happy to be a little crazy at times to satisfy those who are against any developments because of disasters, environment problems and all sorts of problems that they can think off but never want to think how to resolve the problems and move forward.

The other option is "to build".

In Penang Island to cater for the needs of housing with the population growth we need to develop towards the seafront and on the hillsides. As I mentioned above we can still develop on hill slopes, provided we follow strictly and comply fully the building codes on hill developments which the authority can work with the engineers and architects to ensure that all are comply with by the developers. Developers must not be crazy for huge profitability only but also learn to love other human life's by ensuring that safety is also their priority.

I find it rather strange for residents of housing areas affected by hill developments giving ULTIMATUM to political party. I provide a paragraph below which I read from Anil Netto's blog.

We will persist in our attempt to get the new state Government to heed our call as we voted them in to show us a change for the better than the old administration under Gerakan and Umno. Persisting in steep hill slope development that puts the lives and property of innocent long-time residents in the area at risk (in harm’s way) is NOT the way to stay in government over a single term.

One thing the residents must realized is that the planning approvals were given by the previous government and the new government will have to pay heavy compensation (our money)if they were to annul the planning approval.

What they need to do is work with the developer together with the government on the following:

1)Go through the planning approval and see whether they have complied with all the building codes on hill developments and any hanky panky on the approval. If any non compliance is found, then, the government can annul the approval.

2)If the development is approve according to the building codes, the residents can then seek the assurance from the developers and governments that there will be no incident happening like Bukit Antarabangsa. They can request that all the infrastructures works, retaining walls, slope protection, roads and drainage be completed before any building works commence. Monitoring for any soil movement must be done everyday or as recommended by the engineers.

By giving ultimatum it will not help to solve this kind of problem. Developments on hill land will continue in Penang Island, whoever you voted in unless you want my crazy idea as mentioned above, "not to build."

Penang To Become An Independent State

The big question I am asking Abdullah

IS PENANG STATE STILL A PART OF MALAYSIA EVEN THOUGH IT IS NOW UNDER A NEW GOVERNMENT

This is your statement regarding the Bukit Antarabangsa mishap.

"This is not the way to govern – taking credit only for the good things and blaming others for the mishaps."

Read my earlier posting Abdullah - From Adoring You To Hating You.

Malaysiakini reports from Penang indicate that you, Abdullah, being the PM of Malaysia is not governing the whole country as it should be but you are trying your best to starve the five States under Pakatan Rakyat to their death. Is this the way you govern or are you hinting that you want to kick the five States out of Malaysia.

Today, Malaysiakini has another report as follows

CM wants 'rocket speed' rescue for seafood industry
Penang Lim Guan Eng takes the federal government to task for the prolonged delay in releasing the RM500 million rescue package for the melting frozen seafood industry.

It looks most likely that the Federal Government will not provide Funding to Penang State since they are not under umno/ bn control. Penang will have to run the state on their own without any Federal Funding. If this is the case, then Penang will become an Independent State.

Hence, I am calling the State Government to give a final warning to the Federal Government that they must provide equal Funding to the State and if they fail to do so, the State Government will declare Penang as an Independent State. The State Government will run the State just like a country by itself and free from Federal interference.

PENANG GO FOR INDEPENDENT

MalaysiaKini And Chaotic Penang Pt 1

While we wait for Malaysiakini report on this, let me provide a few suggestions. Other news at Malaysiakini.
Since I stay in Penang, I will weigh the situation and comment about Penang chaotic environment and how the new State Government handles them. Other States may want to take up my humble suggestions or pursue their own better solutions.

Two subjects, Traffic Congestions and Hill Developments.

Lets look at the Island traffic system. Until a proper transportation system (be it the MRT, Skytrain or Tram Bus) is put in place, the volume of cars moving on the limited and narrow road systems are increasing by the day and chaotic traffic jams are bound to occur. Penang drivers are famous for their skill in jumping queue, double parking and park just anywhere they can find a space to squeeze in their cars.

The State Government must take action now and implement strict and workable solutions to reduce the chaotic traffic situations.

1) Solve The Illegal Parking.

Illegal parking is one of the main cause of traffic jams. Parking or waiting at a "no parking no waiting sign", parking where "no parking sign" is glaring at them, double parking and waiting in the middle of the road and hazardous parking.
We do see MPPP issuing summons, but the rich Penang lang can afford to pay the RM30 or get someone who knows someone to strike out the compound.

My solution for these menace parking are:

a)Increase the compound amount to say, RM150 and payment is compulsory unless they are going to fight it in court and no one inside MPPP or Government have the power to strike out the compound.

b)Tow the car away. MPPP should buy a few tow trucks to start towing away cars that are park illegally and hazardously. To get back their cars, motorists will have to foot the towing fees, usually around RM200 to RM300 and pay the usual compound of RM150. Three times offenders will also have their driving licenses revoke.

Although this is not a popular move, the situation warrants strict and tough measures to curb these menace way of parking.

2)Roads and Street Directions.

Most of the Island roads are narrow and to allow two way flow is not the best solution when cars on the road are increasing everyday. The complaint if converted to one way is the increase in travelling time and the distance but if you compare it with the traffic jam, its worth considering.

a)The three main roads that can be converted to one way are, Gurney Drive, Kelawei Road and Burma Road (part of it is already one way) which are running parallel.

b)Another two Roads to look into are Tanjong Tokong and Mt Erskine.

c)Ayer Itam and roads leading to Farlim and Paya Terubong is worth studying and look into.

d)The last I can think of is Perak Road and Jelutong.

All the streets running across these main roads can be one way alternatively.

3) Traffic Lights.

This is the cause of traffic jams especially when they are not synchronized systematically.
Penang Island is in the Guinness Book of world records for having the most traffic lights. You will encounter traffic lights almost everywhere and within a KM of each other. This cannot be right. You can reduce almost half of the present numbers of traffic lights if suggestion #2 is implemented.

4)Reduce cars travelling into Georgetown during peak hours.

This is a little tough but if the right method is used it should help the chaotic traffic situation.

a)Enforce car pooling. Pay a price if you do not want to car pool. 3 People in a car entering the red zone (heart of Georgetown) will have to pay RM2 per entry, 2 people RM5 and single RM10.

b)Car plates with ending odd numbers can only enter on Mon, Weds and Fri while the ending even numbers can enter on Tues and Thurs.

If the above are carried out, they must be designed and applied with the future transportation system (MRT, Skytrain or Tram bus system) in mind in order that they can work and complement each other.

And lastly, with the second bridge coming up, planning must start now for the whole traffic system incorporating areas like Bayan Baru, Bayan Lepas, Gelugor and maybe Greenlane and Jelutong as well. Don't wait until we face the problem, than only we start to work on it, by then its too late.

These are the very basic things that the Penang Government must implement. If the Federal Government is not going to provide the Funding, then, somehow we must go international to "BEG BORROW OR STEAL" and come out with a solution.

Note: As this posting is quite long, I will write on Hill Developments on the next posting.

Any Penangnites or Malaysians who have experience with this Penang chaotic situations, you can suggest or express your opinions on the comment box.

Do Not Talk About Fairness In Malaysia, Especially You Alblur Blur

Malaysiakini: The state's police chief said that his team stopped a team of Jerit cyclists in Rawang to "save them (children) from being misused and exploited by irresponsible people" Detail at Malaysiakini
Fairness is "The Quality Or Character Of Being Fair" - Honesty, Justly, Equitably, Tolerably And Justice.

Is there any fairness at all in this country?

Base on your character and performances, let me tell you, Syed Hamid Alblur-Blur, you do not qualify to talk about FAIRNESS.

This is quoted from Malaysia Today:
Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said it was unfair to accuse the rescue teams, including police, of stealing the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide victims' belongings as it could tarnish their image.

And yet you are accusing those whom you arrest under the ISA without any evidents or charge in the court of law just because you say they are a security threat. Is this call fairness to you?

Arresting people under the ISA without any justification ( justified in the name of security ), neither any proof of guilt in the court of law is the kind of fairness you try to preach.
You and your umno minds are infested with "made up insecurity" of this peaceful country.

With this Malaysiakini report
"S'gor top cop: We acted to save the under-aged cyclists"
just like putting Tan Hoon Cheng under the ISA arrest for her own protection.

You put 5 Hindraf members under the ISA arrest just because You Think but with no proof or evidence that they are link to terrorism.

This statement by you shows how useless you are,

“At the same time, if the public have complaints of misconduct against the police, they should lodge a report so that we can conduct an investigation,” he added.
Why are you calling for an investigation, why not arrest and lock them up first? Because they are your people, you need not act fairly as compare to others who are voicing against your umno government. This is call fairness to you.

You and your PDRM disrupt and simply arrest people for peaceful gatherings and cycling to voice their concern and well being of our country, while it is fair not to take any active action against criminals who are roaming wild and freely. This is fairness to you?

The Star:
PUTRAJAYA: Generalised reports that the police and other rescue services personnel had been stealing valuables from victims of the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide tragedy “were not fair to them.”

Home Minister Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar said the police and rescue agencies had done a great job helping these victims despite having to work under difficult conditions.

“They have all worked very hard to control crime and crowds, and gave assistance to the victims. They had to coordinate activities under a situation where there was danger of another landslide and when there were a lot of people.

“Give them the credit where it is due,” he told reporters after presenting awards to winners of the Quality Day at the National Anti-Drug Agency here on Tuesday.

“At the same time, if the public have complaints of misconduct against the police, they should lodge a report so that we can conduct an investigation,” he added.

Syed Hamid was commenting on several police reports lodged by residents of Bukit Antarabangsa alleging that their homes had been broken into by police personnel.

A resident K. Thanarajah, whose wife Dr N. Yogeswari was killed in the tragedy, had submitted pictures to a newspaper claiming that rescuers were scouring through a damaged bungalow after search and rescue operations had been halted for the day.

Syed Hamid said although there might have been reports of theft against the police, these could have been carried out by other people as there were many people at the site then.

Abdullah, From Adoring You To HATING YOU - Malaysiakini

We adore you upon your taking over the throne from Mahathir

We love you when you won the 2004 GE

We like you when you tell us that you need more time for changes

We are angry with you when you start telling lies

We despise you when you rescind all your promises for change

And now your latest statement that makes us HATE YOU. (read below)

Report obtain from The Dandelions.
JAKARTA: Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi has hit out at the Selangor Government for apparently trying to wash its hands of the Bukit Antarabangsa landslide tragedy.

The Prime Minister said the Pakatan Rakyat government should accept responsibility and correct any mistakes or weaknesses which have occurred.

“This is not the way to govern – taking credit only for the good things and blaming others for the mishaps.

“As the new state administration, they should improve on all aspects and take things in their stride,” he told the Malaysian media here when commenting on claims by Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim that a total of 99 risky hillside projects were approved by the previous government.

Abdullah said there was no need for him to teach the present administration how to do their work as they should be fully aware of what was good for the people.

Abdullah, please explain this report from Malaysiakini:
We deserve more federal funding, cries Lim
Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng wants more equality and fairness in the distribution of federal funds to the state government to commensurate the tax revenue collected from this northern island state.
The CM is fuming that the federal government's development funds and annual grants allotted to Penang were disproportionate to the various forms of taxes collected from the state. More at Malaysiakini.

We want to know why Federal Funds (from our taxes) are not allotted to the New Goverment. Are you trying to wash your hands and ignore the States that are under the New Government?

The Federal Government should accept responsibility towards all the States or are you, Abdullah, trying to say that these States are no longer under the Federal Jurisdiction.

“This is not the way to govern – taking credit only for the good things and blaming others for the mishaps.

Well said, Abdullah, but you are acting exactly this way. To stop Federal fundings to States under New Governments IS NOT THE WAY TO GOVERN? Comprende!

Malaysiakini Readers, Take Note: Finally, The Truth Coming Out From Najib Himself

DO YOU STILL WANT TO BELIEVE UMNO's LIES AGAIN, TIME AFTER TIME NOW THAT NAJIB HAD TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT, YOU, THE VOTERS ARE ONLY IMPORTANT TO HIM/UMNO DURING ANY ELECTION TIMES?
Malaysiakini readers please take note that Najib will have to win KT by election, by hook or by crook. Other news at Malaysiakini website.
(The Star) KUALA TERENGGANU: Barisan Nasional has to win the Kuala Terengganu parliamentary seat as proof of its revival from August's defeat in the Permatang Pauh by-election......

He said this in his speech at the closing of the Terengganu Umno retreat and the launch of the Kuala Terengganu election machinery at the Islamic Civilisation Park on Saturday....

And these are the truth coming out from Najib himself

Najib also gave some tips to whoever was to be selected as the Barisan candidate for the by-election.

He said that in any elections, voters were the most important and priority should be given to them.

You, the voters are only important during election times, after that you are a nobody.

"We have to understand that in elections, what is more important is not the Umno machinery, neither the branch leaders nor its committee members, but the voters who are the king.

See, even he can kneel down before you because you are the King but only during elections. Got it!

"Who is the candidate is not important, but the person has to be someone humble, not arrogant, people-friendly, shake hands with all the people, do things which please the voters because they will love you because of the qualities you have," he added.

The sweet talk about humble, not arrogant, people-friendly, shake hands with all the people, do things which please the voters just to fish for your votes. After winning, see how arrogant, snobbish, unfriendly they are and do you expect to see them again and to shake their hands after the election???

Malaysians need to change and so does the ruling government, especially umno. They cannot simply take us for granted anymore. We need truly sincere, honest, humble, people friendly leaders with integrity as well and not only during election times as prescribed by Najib.

Finally, The Truth Coming Out From Najib Himself

DO YOU STILL WANT TO BELIEVE UMNO's LIES AGAIN, TIME AFTER TIME NOW THAT NAJIB HAD TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT, YOU, THE VOTERS ARE ONLY IMPORTANT TO HIM/UMNO DURING ANY ELECTION TIMES?
Malaysiakini is reporting the seriousness of umno wanting to win the KT by-election. Details at Malaysiakini web portal.

DO YOU STILL WANT TO BELIEVE UMNO's LIES AGAIN, TIME AFTER TIME NOW THAT NAJIB HAD TOLD YOU THE TRUTH THAT, YOU, THE VOTERS ARE ONLY IMPORTANT TO HIM/UMNO DURING ANY ELECTION TIMES?

Police Rampage To Celebrate Malaysia INHUMAN Rights 51st Anniversary

Feeling sad over the massive landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa that leave 4 dead and thousands dislodged, I shut down my computer for three days. Today I turn on my computer hoping that the government must have woke up with good news that the police are going all out to strike fear on would be criminals, but to my dismay, not a single good news welcome me upon reading the online news.

Malaysiakini headlines:
10 Jerit activists held, including MP
Perak and Johor police arrested four activists and detained six other participants in Jerit’s ‘Ride for Change’ campaign, including Sungai Siput PSM parliamentarian Dr D Jeyakumar, plus, a female cyclist alleges sexual assault.
Another Malaysiakini headlines:'She would be alive if they helped' Details at Malaysiakini
What is happening to our country? It looks like the police is doing the bidding of umno/bn by arresting and striking fear on innocent people's ‘Ride for Change’ campaign. Any one or groups that voice out their concern against the government's wrong doings will be neutralized with arrest by the police force.

The police grows bolder to strike against innocent people while criminals are having great times performing their crimes all because our great leader announce that our crime rate is low as compared to Japan and Hong Kong.

The police rampage against innocent people will continue to grow as Malaysia celebrate its INHUMAN Rights 51st Anniversary.

MAY GOD HELP US TO STRIKE BACK AGAINST THIS KIND OF INHUMAN LEADERS AND OPEN THE HEARTS AND MINDS OF OUR POLICE FORCE

Malaysia Striving For The Best Among The Worst Title

Malaysiakini reports Najib, IGP claiming that our crime rate is low as compare to other countries. Details at Malaysiakini website.
Malaysia is happy and contended to be The Best Among The Worst but not The Best Among The Best. This is the way our present leaders is guiding our country too. They are just reluctant to go for The Best Among The Best for reasons only known to themselves.

1)Our democracy is better than North Korea and Burma

2)Our education system is better than Uganda and Somalia

3)Our petrol price is still cheaper than Thailand and Indonesia

4)Our toll rate is lower than most South East Asia Countries

5)Our crime rate (although is increasing in an alarm rate every year) is lower than Japan and Hong Kong

6)Our sports are better than many third world countries

7)Our ISA law is better than the US

8)Our currency is stronger than Indonesia and Laos

...and the list can go on......

Our leaders are so proud of the achievements when everything are compare among the worst. It is always the better among the worst case scenerio. Can you believe that?

Not one time did any of our leaders feel responsible over our failures to strife for any top position or full merit recognized by international standard.

Are We Skirting Towards Disaster?

Mukhriz was misquoted, report Malaysiakini. Read details at Malaysiakini website.
The ruling Malaysian Government, practically under umno control is playing with fire which they have no idea how to contain should it spread beyond their playing field.

Malaysia leaders, majority of which come from umno, always preach to the world that the country is peaceful and living in harmony among the various races. Is this true? I would believe it if we are still living in the sixties and early seventies but not now.

There is always a different between umno and the rest of its citizens. The different is, umno is the power house and whatever they want to do or say, whether they are right or wrong, nobody can question them or debate about it. You can be wronged and get arrested for pointing or debating about what they did were wrong. This is the Malaysia Boleh style of governing.

You can see clearly their arrogant attitude in many forms. A simple example, when they play with fire and got burned, they do not blame themselves for playing with fire instead claiming that the fire are being thrown at them by innocent onlookers who are just trying to warn them not to play with fire.

They are now playing with bigger fire, especially when their power base is slowly disintegrating. Although their big talk to the world that we are living peacefully in harmony but in true fact they are trying their best to create something disastrous in order for them to remain in power.

They are creating a mountain out of a molehill for any slightest commotions which are created by themselves. So, my advise to all Malaysians, DO NOT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP. Let them play with their toy, the fire, leave them be. They do not want anyone to talk or question about "ketuanan melayu", we don't talk about it, let them keep it under lock and key, for it will be become useless in time to come when it is kept in the dark for a long time. Other subject, like the vernacular schools, let them talk and shout all they want, for we know that they cannot do anything about it as it needs parliament to amend the constitution.

If we try to counter every silly things that they say or trying to warn them not to play with fire, we ourselves will get into big trouble and this is what they want, to create a disaster and they will use this as an excuse to persecute and declare an emergency.

I REPEAT: DO NOT FALL INTO THEIR TRAP and this apply to the oppositions as well. Do not counter them, for we the rakyat knows what is happening. Just run the States under your control properly and make the rakyat feel proud of being a truly Bangsa Malaysia.

I Agree With You, Mukhriz, Close Down Vernacular Schools

Malaysiakini reported;
Mukhriz: Close down vernacular schools
He was of the opinion that the disunity in the community arose from the different education system and proposed that a single education system be implemented to foster greater unity. Detail report at Malaysiakini here.

Murkhriz, Malaysians must be proud to have you as their future leader where your foresight for unity is by closing down vernacular schools. If you are sure that vernacular schools are the cause of disunity, then I totally agree with you that they have to be closed down.

Vernacular schools are not the only cause for disunity, which I am very sure you would agree. In your heart and mind you must have realized that there are many other causes of disunity which I think you will be announcing soon and call for their removal.

Your good cause is my cause as well and that is to unite all Malaysians as one. Other than closing down vernacular schools in order for a full Malaysians unity you need to be brave as well to remove the following.

1) Close down "malay only" schools and form only national schools where all Malaysians can study together.

2) Remove the ketuanan melayu idealogy. All Malaysian citizens are master of this land.

3) Close down Mara or open it to all Malaysians that qualify for entrance.

4) Remove the nep and let all Malaysians be equal as citizen of this country.

5) Make meritocracy the norm for all universities entry, promotions in civil service and other aspects of businesses, cabinet posts etc.

6)Dissolve umno and all bn component parties and form one party where any races can apply and be a member.

6) Make it illegal for anyone to pass racist remark against any Malaysian or calling Malaysians to leave the country if one is not happy.

We are waiting and hopeful that the above will be announced by you shortly, that your call for unity is truly from your heart and not just for your political mileage.

The CHANGE Is Still Ongoing For MalaysiaKini

Malaysiakini reported that Zaid Ibrahim made a special appearance at the PKR annual congress but no news on his attending the Penang DAP victory dinner. More at Malaysiakini website.
The voice for change is still there, change to what, after having control the Penang Sate Government. Change the Federal Government next, the crowd of more than 10,000 seems to echo the calls from the speakers for the night.

Zaid Ibrahim And DAP supremo YB Lim Kit Siang

The DAP Penang 10,000 victory dinner was held at the Han Chiang School field on the 28th Nov. 2008. When you saw the crowd, your mind tends to recall the 6th of March election campaign held at the same venue with well over 30,000 people attending. Yes, the wind of change is ongoing for our Malaysia until we see the fall of the umno/bn federal government.

Two distinguish guest speakers provide the very points and reasonings that Malaysians must stand up and be counted in order for a true change. One is the victim of the unjust ISA, Teresa Kok, which do not need any introduction.

The other, a sales man for scotch tape in Penang when he is a teenager, later became a lawyer and a minister in the PM department is non other than Zaid Ibrahim. He is still a sales man today, he claimed, but not selling scotch tape anymore but a concept to unify all Malaysians as one, living together in harmony. This product he is selling today is call Bangsa Malaysia.

We expect to see more of Zaid Ibrahim and his kind as we march together on the road to complete freedom and justice.

Below a few snap shots of the event.

Paula Khoo Bail Extended

Malaysiakini reported that Police stop the anti-ISA event in Ampang with nine arrested. More at Malaysiakini website.
A small group of concern citizens in support of Paula Khoo were at the Pattani Road Police Station around 8 am this morning.

Paula Khoo who was arrested on the 15th Nov for attending an Anti-ISA vigil and released on bail that night, was asked to report back today.

The group of around 15 people were not allowed inside the police compound, and were asked to wait outside providing no reason for the action. It is my understanding that the polices who are public servants must be more polite and courteous when dealing with the public but it looks like they have a lot more to learn.

Paula Khoo who arrived at around 8:25am was having a little problem herself trying to enter the police station, although she was asked to report back. Her son was denied entry while her husband and lawyers have to somehow sweet talk their way in.

Half an hour later, Paula and her lawyers came out. Her bail was extended and told to report back on the 28th Jan 2009.

A One Way Tolerance MalaysiaKini Style!

Malaysia will always be enclave and be the odd man out in this world of diversity and openness across borders. What kind of leaders would want their country to disintegrate and using terms such as majority, religion and master of the land reasoning's to cause disunity among the races so that they can stay in power.

We cannot afford to have leaders of past generation mentality that have no foresight, no conscience, no leadership quality, no integrity, carrying excess baggage, corrupt and will never admit nor apologise for any wrong doing.

It is always the inclination that the majority win or the majority is right. Applying the majority of a particular race reasoning to deflect other minority from questioning one's right as a full citizen of the country shows the leadership have no conscience and quality. The minority is always reminded to be tolerance and sensitive to the majority but the majority can and need not be tolerance or sensitive to the minority.

Religion is a personal matter between oneself and God. In using religion as an excuse to fight for one particular race which is of majority against the minority religions and warning of its sensitivity is very unbecoming of a leader. The latest issuing of the fatwa on yoga is a muslim issue and many had voice out that non muslim should not interfere. No one is interfering but is concern that one fatwa may lead to another fatwa that one day it will affect the non muslim. Why it will affect the non muslim is the reasons that they gave to fatwa yoga.

Malaysiakini report on the yoga ban; "'Let Muslims deal with it'" which I do not agree. Full Malaysiakini report here.

As Malaysians of all races and of different religions we are bound to intertwined with each other daily in many ways, such as schooling, working, activities, businesses and religious celebrations. Base on the reasons that they can fatwa yoga, soon there will be a total separation for muslim and non muslim in all kind of activities, separate school for muslim and non muslim, muslim cannot work at a non muslim companies, muslim customers for muslim shopping malls and the list can go on until non muslim have to be isolated like lepers on an island by itself. You think about it, non muslim have to be sensitive to muslim sensitivity but not the other way round.

As a Malaysian citizen irrespective of any race, we are master of this land. Trying to misinterpret or change the meaning of the constitution will not bode well for the country as a whole. If master of the land concept is still recognise worldwide, Obama would not have been elected as President of the United State.

To enable tolerance to work, it must be on both sides of the divide and not a one way tolerance.

Bloggers Ashame To Be Associated With The National Alliance of Bloggers

What is happening to our Malaysiakini bloggers. Malaysiakini bloggers must set a new course and change its president.
What I understand about the The National Alliance of Bloggers is that it is non political and will resist by blogging of any bad calls and actions by the government. To help protect bloggers under the constant harassment of the government with threats to detain bloggers under the ISA.

But sad to say, this so call "The National Alliance of Bloggers" headed by a President who now wants to turn it into a propaganda machine for umno. My earlier posting on these realigned bloggers here and here.

I am truly ashame to be associated with this so call "The National Alliance of Bloggers" with its president who has his own self interest to take care off has now deviated from what this alliance is originally planned for.

The logo for bloggers united is being removed from my blog as of now. I am calling the committees of "The National Alliance of Bloggers" to take action against the president for his non committal to the original agendas and now is using it to serve his own purpose and umno.

Will Haris and Bernard do something about it.

American Gangster Or Our Own MalaysiaKini Gangster

Update: added video on the 9th Nov anti-ISA arrest

Last night I watched a dvd movie given to me by a friend title "American Ganster". It's nearly a 3 hours movie starring Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe. The story line is base on a true story in America's seventies during the Vietnam War.

In 1970s America, a detective works to bring down the drug empire of Frank Lucas ( a black man ) a heroin kingpin from Manhattan, who is smuggling the drug into the country in the coffins of dead soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.

The movie captured the drugs movement from Asia into the streets of major cities of New York, Chicago, Detroit and others by this Frank Lucas who handle millions of dollars of drug transactions without going through middle man.

The main story is not about the drugs but of corruptions among the police force in New York. It tells how one honest detective with a handful of his own selected force were able to bring down Frank Lucas and bring to book nearly 75% of New York police force on corruptions.

Our own MalaysiaKini Gangster is in similarity of the American Gangster, not on the drugs situation but major corruptions and misused of power in our police force.

After the end of the movie, I was thinking to myself, there must be at least a few honest cops among our police force. If they are against corruptions and willing to fight against it, I am sure that there are ways and means for them to do something about it.

If these few honest cops of ours have the opportunity to watch this movie, I am sure they can learn a thing or two on how to fight corruptions but on the negative side, if they are not strong will enough they may instead learn how to be corrupted.

If there are any cyber troopers from the police force reading this post, I strongly encourage you to watch this movie and to inform your colleagues about it.

To all the other readers, watch this movie and if you have any friends in the police force, pass it to them.

The PDRM is totally at lost on how the policing of a nation works, instead they are going after peaceful gatherings and politicians with opposing views while rampant corruptions (above the table, as quoted by TM) are not fully checked and the crime rates are escalating with no view in sight of receding.

UMNO You Got A Lot To Learn From MalaysiaKini Royalties

Each time when the Royalties speak, we can see how true and sincere their statements are, especially the sorry state of affairs our nation is in.

But UMNO will not listen nor learn from the advises that are provided in the Royalties statements. They always think that they are the greatest and above everything else. Realigned bloggers go a step further, trying to spin the Royalties statements to boost their positions in umno.

Another truthful statement from Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah which everyone must take note, including umno the mumbo.

Full text of speech by Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah at the Diversity Matters Forum on Diasporas in the Commonwealth at Monash University, Sunway Campus on Nov 19, 2008.

The serious study of diversity and multiculturalism is precisely what the world needs at this critical juncture. I do not believe that we will ever approach the goal of human security until we are able to come to terms with our feelings of hatred, fear and apathy of our differences. If we were to spend but a tiny fraction of the resources poured into waging wars to promoting and appreciating how our differences work in our favour, rather than against it, the world would be an infinitely safer and more prosperous place.

Diversity is not only to be cherished; it is essential. I know this as an educationist for the store of knowledge does not increase until and unless there are differences in thinking. It is when there is stultifying uniformity that stagnation occurs. I know this as a Muslim for Islam recognises other religions. Islam itself is built on a history of myriad traditions. I know this as a Malaysian for what has built this country and made it strong are the contributions of its different communities. Malaysians of different races and religions have come together to put their shoulders to the collective plough despite their differences, something that many countries have not been so fortunate enough to share.

Large-scale migration of people, or in the language of this conference, diasporas, has been a constant feature in human history. As Ramesh Thakur, former Vice-Rector of the United Nations University and a noted scholar on human security, has written:
If human beings were not genetically programmed to travel vast distances, we would still be living in Africa. Whether our restlessness is rooted in curiosity about lands on the other side of the land or ocean, whether we seek to escape destitution and persecution “at home” or even whether we simply go astray, large-scale movements of peoples have been intrinsic to human nature and are an integral part of the human story.

From a purely economic perspective, theory would seem to support the presumption that international migration expands global output and increases global welfare. Moving labour from low productivity to high productivity countries improves allocative efficiency in the world economy. The persistence of large differences in average income between countries is prima facie evidence that allowing greater international labour mobility would raise world welfare. Thus, allowing labour to move across borders more freely would be a simple way to help narrow global income gaps.

But this, of course, is not the whole story. In receiving countries, public debate about immigration drives national politics, with recent electoral campaigns in Australia and the US each devoting substantial attention to the topic. Immigrants are often blamed for disrupting civil society, draining public coffers and lowering wages. At the same time, skilled immigrants receive credit for spurring innovation and the growth of technology sectors. To the extent that immigrants pay taxes and have the right to benefit from public services, they change the net tax burden on native residents. Once they become citizens, immigrants generally obtain the right to vote, altering domestic politics.

There are also sizeable effects on the sending country. Whilst emigration has brought a welcome financial windfall in the form of remittances, it has also drained poor economies of their most educated workers.

Among OECD countries, those with the largest immigrant presence in 2005 include Australia (24%), New Zealand (19%), Canada (19%) and the UK (10%). Australia, New Zealand and Canada are unique among receiving countries in using a point system (rather than quotas) for admission, in which individuals with higher levels of skill are favoured for entry. European countries take into account an individual’s refugee or asylee status in making immigrant admission decisions.

Among Commonwealth countries, India is the largest example of a diaspora-enriched, as well as enriching, country. There are estimated to be some 23 million non-resident Indians and persons of Indian origin. They represent significant minorities of the population of the United Kingdom, the United States, the Gulf States and countries on the African continent. Their combined wealth is estimated to be over US$1 trillion dollars in 2007, a figure roughly equivalent to India’s GDP. The World Bank has estimated that remittances by overseas Indians in 2006 were in the order of US$27 billion dollars, a little more than 10 percent of total global remittances in that year.

Significant as these numbers are, they still do not describe the full contribution. Successful migrants often return to their homeland and create new businesses, thereby acting as growth catalysts. Overseas Indians have been a vital conduit for multinational companies seeking to do business in the country. The Indian government has astutely sought to tap the Indian diaspora network by offering tax and other benefits. The latter are therefore being engaged and integrated into the country’s economic growth and development strategies.

For the receiving countries, the economic gains can be enormous. They gain a willing and energetic workforce, a thriving pool of taxpayers, and a growing domestic market for goods and services. Migrants often also take an active part in the social life and governance of their adopted countries. Many emerge as top government officials, brilliant academics and business personalities. Malaysia is a prime example of how a diaspora of Chinese, Indians and other races have led to the creation of a more heterogeneous and prosperous state. Today, all are integral to the Malaysian landscape; all belong. At the same time, Malaysians from all walks of life can be found all over the world and many have distinguished themselves in various fields.

I mention all these things with the full knowledge that there is already a long and rich discourse on these issues. I understand that among the important issues that will be discussed at this forum are how to ensure that the many diasporas are included, engaged and integrated in their adopted countries. In the remaining time available, allow me to share with you three perspectives on this issue.

First, diasporas can only be consistent with pluralistic societies. A pluralistic society is one that not only tolerates but appreciates and encourages the active participation of those of different races, cultures and lifestyles. Fundamental to the creation of truly pluralistic societies are two fundamental principles, that of equality and fairness. Of course, to ensure that these two principles are more than just nice thoughts and are vigorously enforced, the rule of law is required. And for the rule of law to be operational, there must be the most meticulous observation of the doctrine of separation of powers and the independence of the judiciary. In the UK in 1981, the Scarman report pointed out how minorities often had difficulty in getting good behaviour from the police and felt that they were discriminated. I have spoken long and often about these matters and do not wish to do so here. I also do not wish to appear to reduce the entire problem of managing diversity to a matter of the law. I do think, however, that it is a most basic building block underpinning pluralism.

Second, the principles of equality and fairness suggest a preferred policy of integration rather than assimilation. Integration accepts and enlists; it does not coerce. It respects and values differences as legitimate. Integration seeks a confederation of peoples and cultures unified by common values and voluntarily cooperating towards the common good.

Assimilation, on the other hand, seeks to change language, customs, religions and even worldviews. Nation-building was once thought to be impossible unless differences were subsumed into the dominant norm. Most of the time this has been achieved through relentless and merciless force. In the name of unity, immigrants have been forced to change their names, banned from using their mother tongue and prevented from holding certain jobs.

The integrationist path to nation building is a difficult one to pursue. In many ways more difficult than attempts at forced assimilation. In all of human history, wars have been waged over attempts to compel dissimilar communities either to fit into a uniform mould or else forcibly exclude them. Sadly, even today, there are those whose primary response to diversity is to pound those who are dissimilar into submission. They often react to diversity by insisting on socio-cultural uniformity rather than adaptability.

Integrationist approaches, it must be admitted, are beset by their own problems. Some countries that practice multiculturalism end up having significant enclaves of isolated and alienated communities. Each community stays in its own little box without contact with other communities. These communities are not bound by common ties or interests with mainstream society. Rather, they regard their adopted country in a purely utilitarian way, as places to eke out a living rather than a cherished homeland.

Which brings me to my third point. Integration is a gradual process consisting of many acts over many generations. By and large, immigrants everywhere have common needs and wants. They want food on the table, money to spend, their children educated and to be able to lead useful lives. They desire good homes, a physically secure environment, good healthcare and protection in their golden years. But many, especially those of subsequent generations, will also yearn for a deep sense of belonging and identity. To be incorporated into the wider community and not to be treated as strangers.

In this regard, the effort of some Commonwealth governments to introduce deliberate diversity policies in their public services is therefore a timely and responsive measure that can have manifold consequences down the line. Diversity needs to be promoted at every level, down to local governments and communities.

The idea behind multiculturalism is that countries with people of different cultural backgrounds should allow them to live a free life without being forced to do things they don’t want to do. What characterizes democratic life is that it is the person who decides ? whether he or she wants to adjust more and be absorbed, or remain aloof. At the same time, the need to forge a community of people with shared values and interests remains paramount. The French riots in 2005 served as a reminder about what can happen if a country allows its immigrant communities to drift in the fringes of society without meaningful integration.

Where do we draw the line between the individual’s right to live the life he or she chooses and the need to forge a cohesive society? The notion that the burden of responsibility rests solely with receiving countries is perhaps misplaced. On the part of immigrant communities, the spirit of respecting ands accepting local traditions, local history and system of government is equally important. A spirit reflected in the Malay saying ? “di mana bumi di pijak – di situ langit di junjung”.

Multicultural societies are fast becoming the rule rather than the exception. Contrary to the rhetoric, however, it is not becoming a source of strength. Mankind is failing - and failing badly – at creating a sense of community. Instead race, culture and religion have become the dominant discourse.

We must avoid falling into a new and destructive form of modern day tribalism. Nothing is inevitable. Cultures can co-operate as much as clash.

We need to reclaim religion from those who would distort its truths. We must reject radicalism and extremism of all types. If there is someone in my society who is hungry, or unemployed or sick and cannot afford treatment, then it diminishes me even if he is of a different race or religion.

Indiscriminate Arrest - What Is the Police Trying To Proof

Malaysiakini reported that Tuition teacher Paula Khoo arrested at anti-ISA vigil on Saturday night. More at Malaysiakini
Everyday as you move along from one destination to another you are bound to notice that the law "prohibiting the gathering of more then four people" (illegal gathering) were broken every minute of the day and everywhere.

Our country's top leaders keep on reminding us that action will be taken should anyone broke any of the country's law. Their big dirty mouths keep spitting out this holy statement of theirs The "law is the law and no one is above the law".

Do they really meant what they say and order the police to act strictly according to the law, even if a crime is committed by the sons or son in laws of any leaders or members of the ruling parties?

I am 100% agreeable for the police to take action against anyone who broke the law of this country. But when action is taken against a person who committed an offence while another person is allow to commit the same offence with no action taken, then, there is a cause for concern.

Let me take you back to the latest arrest of Paula Khoo and the "Penang Anti ISA Light A Candle Vigil" on the 15th Nov 2008.

The Esplanade as usual is flooded with people on a Saturday night. I can see groups of people walking, sitting or fishing along this beautiful seafront. Nearby, the hawker center with two separated areas, one for selling halal food and the other for non halal were crowded as well.

You can see family members of 8 enjoying the tasty food while another group of 10 people talking ever so loudly as they drink their beer. As I walk towards the location where the vigil is to be held, I saw a bus load of passengers, most likely local tourist, disembarking. They look very happy upon seeing the beautiful night scene of the Esplanade, some started clicking away with their modern digital cameras. I roughly estimated there are about 30 people in this group.

I could easily see at least 10 groups comprising more than 5 people enjoying themselves at various parts of the Esplanade.

At this moment my mind does not provide me any hint at all that almost all the people having a good time at the Esplanade were committing an offence according to the law of the country.

The vigil started at 8pm sharp with the welcome message from the MC. She invited speakers to take the stage to speak their thoughts and bring awareness to the public about the expired draconian ISA Act. The ISA is good to fight the communists and terrorists but when it is used indiscriminately against those who speak or write the truth and voice their concern against the ruling government, then, this ISA Act does not serve its original purposes anymore and must be repealed.

In between speakers, the MC also played the guitar and sang a few songs to the delight of the audiences who join in the singing as well. A carnival like environment, I should say.

Many people knew that a few SBs were mingling among the crowd before the event starts and they could not be bothered with them. Half way through the event, 6 to 8 uniformed police arrived and stand along side the crowds. Everything was peaceful, just like the other crowds that I mentioned earlier, everyone just having the fun and enjoyment spending their weekend time at the Esplanade.

What could go wrong, nothing, the crowds are not going to start a riot or start hurling stones even with the arrival of 5 FRU personals just five minutes before the event ended.

The event came to a close just before 9pm and while the organiser start to pack their things, we heard the police issuing orders for the crowd to disperse within ten minutes. The police was clarifying with one of the organiser that this gathering was without permit.

While everyone was busy talking, organisers moving their equipments and others just standing around, two policewomen quietly escorted the MC to a white van which we learn a little later that she was taken to the Pattani Road Police Station for interrogation.

More details of the arrest and the aftermath at the police station from Lucia, Zorro, Antares and Malaysiakini.

Why the arrest or rather the indiscriminate arrest?

If the police are just doing their job and following the law they need to arrest her as the gathering is without a permit. Fair, very fair I would say. But what about the other groups hanging around the Esplanade, why are they not arrested as well?

The government had spoken, "nobody is above the law". Right and good. Can I ask a stupid question, did the 5 FRU apply for a permit to gather at the Esplanade? If not why? They cannot be above the law. Did the 6 to 8 uniformed policemen apply for a permit to gather at the Esplanade? We do not care whether its their job or they are performing their duties, but the law specify very clearly that any gathering of more than 4 people must have a police permit and nobody is above the law.

Malik Imtiaz Sarwar had written "An Open Letter To The Inspector General of Police" and I abstract a portion to highlight what I am trying to say as well.

Compare, for instance, the experience of protestors outside the Bar Council and UITM students demonstrating against the admission of non-Malays this August with the treatment of participants in the anti-ISA vigil held earlier this month. While the third event had dispersed, spontaneous peaceful gatherings of small groups of citizens were acted against with force and culminated in numerous arrests. Though the earlier two events were by any comparison that much more aggressive, no action was taken despite the protest outside the Bar Council having disrupted a closed-door event.

Fellow Malaysians, where are we heading. The door to Freedom for this country is closing so fast that if we do not do anything now, a full police state will be installed when you wake up one fine day.
