Sibu by-election - DONATE NOW!

Both Pakatan Rakyat/DAP and Umno/Supp had announced their respective candidates but we have to wait till nomination day to confirm their candidacies including any independent if any.

Nomination Day is on the 8th May 2010 and Polling Day falls on the 16th May 2010.

Umno had spent RM200 million or so at the Hulu Selangor by election and we can expect more money to be poured into Sibu. My guesstimate is that it will be no less than RM500 million.

Pakatan Rakyat/DAP could not match Umno Ringgit to Ringgit but they are appealing for support through a donation drive.

As DAP will be facing a major uphill battle to win the Sibu parliamentary by-elections, we are seeking donations from all Malaysians to support our fight against the mighty Barisan Nasional machinery.

The Sibu campaign is critical to reverse the recent losses of Pakatan Rakyat members of parliament, and serve as a critical launchpad for the second tsunami for change in the upcoming Sarawak state elections, as well as the expected 13th General Elections next year.

As the eyes of the nation will be focused Sibu, we call for support from all Malaysians who seek a better future for the country.

If you wish to see change and fight for a better Malaysia you can do your small part by contributing to this by election. Go to Sibu by-election - DONATE NOW!.

Note: Pakatan Rakyat/DAP will NOT be sending anyone out to solicit donations. If anyone approaches you for donation, please inform the nearest DAP HQ/branch.

We are BORN FREE

We need to save Malaysia and set the people free. The ruling Government is acting like they owned this country, obstructing in any way they can to deny the rakyat their human rights, bankrupting the country's coffer by way of corruptions and indiscriminate use of public funds.

They have forgotten that they are employed by the people and they are to serve the rakyat with respect and dignity, instead they intimidate, threaten and used ISA arrest to silent dissent thus creating a climax of fear.

"National Security", "OSA" being used as an excuse with threats of "ISA" to terminate any issues from further investigation if the issues have any sign of wrong doing by the Government.

We no longer are living in the slave age, we are not slave to our "servant" whom we employed to look after our interest and not theirs. We must no longer fear our "servant" as long as we live by the rule of laws in this civilised modern world.

Anyone can be arrested, shot to death or death under detention, all for no apparent reasons nor a serious threats to the country's security. Who "police the polices", who "judge the judges", the rakyat have no say nor can they seriously voice them out.

These old "servant" are now incapable of running this country effectively and we need to look for a new servant to work for us. We must FREE ourselves from the "servant" whom we have wrongly chosen for the past 53 years and have grown into an arrogant, racist and corrupt monster.

Time to SAVE MALAYSIA and FREE MALAYSIANS from this monster "servant".

We want to be BORN FREE again.

Enjoy this song BORN FREE by Matt Monro with lyrics below.

Born free, as free as the wind blows
As free as the grass grows
Born free to follow your heart

Live free and beauty surrounds you
The world still astounds you
Each time you look at a star

Stay free, where no walls divide you
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

(Stay free, where no walls divide you)
You're free as the roaring tide
So there's no need to hide

Born free, and life is worth living
But only worth living
'cause you're born free

Stop using mosques for politics, Selangor Sultan warns

“This is because mosques and suraus are places where Muslims gather to perform their religious obligations and to foster closer relationship among them.

“If mosques and surau are allowed to be used as arenas for political campaigns, it is feared that they will be misused to insult, slander and make baseless accusations at others,” the Sultan was quoted by Bernama today
Full report here.

I am in full agreement with the Sultan, as places of worship should not be used for political agenda.

It would be good if the Sultans and Agong can come out with this same kind of warning to the civil servants serving the public to be impartial in performing their duties.

The judiciary, PDRM, MACC, EC and Ministries must carry out their public duties impartially without any kind of political influence.

This cannot be construed that the rulers are interfering in politics as the judiciary, PDRM, MACC and EC are appointed by the rulers and not political parties. Their job function is primarily to serve the public and their impartiality and independent must be above all. They are employed by the people to serve the King, country and the public and not to any political party.

The rulers must come out with a stern warning to civil servants especially the judiciary, the PDRM, the MACC and the EC not to be influenced by any political party while performing their duties.

By Zaid Ibrahim

1. Every citizen has a fundamental right to vote. But this right is meaningless if he is not able to exercise it because his name is removed from the electoral roll without his knowledge; or if he is intimidated, or bribed or given all kinds of inducements to influence his choice.

In the recent Hulu Selangor by-election, we witnessed all of the above. We have witnesses who will come forward with the necessary evidence of blatant bribery starting from the Barisan Nasional (BN) party worker right up to the Prime Minister (PM) himself. The conduct of the Prime Minister is shameless and without precedent. More importantly it is illegal. In these circumstances, we will file an election petition as soon as my legal team is ready to do so. Any voter from Hulu Selangor who wants to volunteer relevant information to any of the PKR, DAP or PAS offices.

2. The conduct of free and fair elections is the constitutional duty of the Election Commission. I maintain that they have violated that duty in the recent by-election. They have allowed intimidation, false information, and unfair and illegal electoral practices by the BN machinery without any attempt to stop them. In fact, it was obvious to me that the Election Commission was on the side of BN and wanting BN to win. I will therefore institute appropriate legal action against the Election Commission, in hope that future elections will be conducted fairly to reflect the will of the people.

I will also sue Utusan Malaysia for calling me kaki botol. I was never an alcoholic. Whatever I consumed was no more than whatever Mahathir and other UMNO leaders had consumed. The Election Commission should not have allowed for such a malicious and false campaign.

3. Pakatan Rakyat will mobilize a fresh campaign to make free and fair elections a reality in this country. We will never be able to reflect the will of the people and form the next Federal government if BN can conduct the elections as they see fit, as they are doing now. Our Election Commission must conduct elections that conform to international standards. Our country must allow for international observers to attend the Sibu by-election and all other elections in the future. I ask the PM if he is as popular as he claims, then why is he so afraid of a free and fair fight with the Opposition?

4. A Pakatan International Support group will be launched in London in July. This is to garner international support for free and fair elections in Malaysia. Malaysians residing overseas are eligible to be members of this group. They will make representations and provide information to other countries and international organizations on how elections are conducted here and what the ruling party in Malaysia has done to stay in power. By exerting international pressure so we hope this BN government will one day allow for free and fair elections.

Perkasa, your call for the government to delay any allocation and approval of projects for the Chinese community, is very timely. The Malaysian Chinese are very grateful to you because they are also very tired of paying taxes which are not properly and fairly distributed.

I support your call and hope that the Federal Government will follow them through provided that Perkasa and the Federal Government agree that the Malaysian Chinese need not have to pay taxes anymore.

I am sure the Malaysian Chinese can survive without the Federal Government's projects and assistance as long as we do not need to pay taxes.

Can you agree to that Perkasa?

Malay rights group Perkasa wants the Barisan Nasional (BN) government to review election pledges made in Chinese areas in Hulu Selangor because of the community’s poor support for the coalition.

Its president Datuk Ibrahim Ali (picture) said despite BN’s success in winning the semi-rural seat from PKR, the Chinese voters had largely chosen to back the federal opposition.

“It is necessary for the government to delay any allocation and approval of projects for the Chinese community,” said Ibrahim in a statement responding to the by-election result.

Ibrahim added that the government should also ignore all the demands made by BN members, MCA and Gerakan, as the Chinese of Hulu Selangor had rejected the ruling coalition.

“They show no appreciation to BN government’s efforts, even though the BN government had to hurt the feelings of the Malays and the natives,” said Ibrahim.

“All their demands are fulfilled by the government but they do not know how to be grateful,” he added.

Najib, Does A Liar Tells Everyone That He Is A Liar? Or a criminal telling everyone that he had committed a crime? My guess would be 99% will not do that, even if they are caught they will swear in court that they are innocent. Got my drift, Najib?

After looking at the final results for the Hulu Selangor by election, even though Zaid of PKR lost, I did not feel let down nor grieved over the lost. In fact, I was quite satisfied with the Final Results.

Umno leaders playing "Santa Claus in Spring" had openly declared that they will win with a clear majority of 6k to 8k and I believe it could happen, that is why I am happy now because it did not materialised.

Spending approximately 100 million ringgit on a by election saying that it is not buying of votes but to address the problems facing the residents of the constituents. If this is true and not a lie, Najib, let me tell you that there are hundreds other constituencies that also face the same problems by the residents that needed hundreds of million to address. Will you do that now and not only when an MP or Adun has to die before you can carried out your so call programs for the people?

The news media and umno leaders can spin whichever way they wanted on the win but the fact still remain that support for Pakatan Rakyat remain strong and has not wavered a bit.

Yes, a win is a win, even if it is by one vote but in the eyes of most Malaysians and to a certain extend, other countries, the big question is, is this win legitimate, did the winner breaks any rules to claim victory?

I am also happy with the results because umno could not even win with a 2k majority but only managed to scrap through with a 1725 majority, that is less than 30% of their prediction of 6k to 8k, indicating the reluctance of the voters to believe in the PM's rhetoric and slogans of 1Malaysia and the NEM.

PR/PKR lost is a Heroic Lost but Umno's win is a SHAMEFUL win.

The results indicated that there are still support from all races for Pakatan Rakyat although the percentage may varies. There are still a solid 50% Malaysians supporting Pakatan Rakyat and it is a strong sign that PutraJaya is within reach and that is all it matters.

PKR HEROIC LOST
UMNO SHAMEFUL WIN

Hulu Selangor P94 By Election Official Results :

Total Turnout 48,935 voters

Percentage Voted 75.87%

PKR 23,272

BN 24,997

Majority 1,725

Compare to the 12th GE results.

Total Turnout 47,845

Percentage Voted 75.24%

Spoiled Votes 1,466

PKR 23,177

BN 22,979

Majority 198

There is an increase of 1,090 voters turnout in this by election. Both parties had in fact shown an increase in total number of votes. PKR with an increase of 95 votes while BN with an increase of 2,018.

So, the majority of 1,725 in favor of BN indicates that there is not much swing of voters to either sides.

These results showed very clearly that PKR had not lost any support and BN majority came mostly from a handful of malays from Felda. There may also be a slight reversal on the rural malay support for PKR but is compensated by the increase of the Chinese votes while the Indians remain status quo. More accurate deduction will prevail when further details are obtained from each polling station.

PKR should be happy with this result and BN should not be overwhelmed with their win.

PAKATAN RAKYAT Is Not 100% Perfect But Surely 100% Better Than Umno

These are the reports by Malaysiakini.
Latest survey shows PKR slightly ahead

Zaid to win by 1,000-1,500 votes

I do not want to take these reports and start to claim victory. These are just survey and comment from analyst which are not 100% accurate but at least it gives life and strength back to the supporters to push forward after trailing behind for the past few days.

The final lap is crucial and the people must be given the right answers to their questions.

Hulu Selangor voters, you must ask these questions and answer them yourselves before going to vote tomorrow:

1) Why do you get to see the PM only during election time.

2) Why do you get cash and goodies only during by election.

3) Why the sudden approval of schools allocation and other projects only available during by election.

4) Do you know the reason why your polling station is being relocated without you knowing it.

5) Do you know why, the photo of Teoh Beng Hock is not allowed but Najib's photo are spread throughout HS.

6) Do you know why the police keep on harassing and arresting PR supporters.

7) Do you know why umno have to resort to slander and character assassination of PR candidate.

8) Do you really believe that umno & PM can keep their words and promises.

9) Do you know that billions of ringgit of your money had gone into someone else pocket.

10) Do you know that the PM 1Malaysia is "Umno Malay First" and you second.

11) Do you know why after 53 years of umno's rule, there is no improvement in your living condition.

12) Do you know why after 53 years of umno's rule, we are still so divided among the various races.

13) Do you know why after 53 years of umno's rule, you can still be placed under ISA arrest and locked up without being charged.

14) Do you know why after 53 years of umno's rule, your 10 A1 children's higher education is not guaranteed.

15) Do you know why after 53 years of umno's rule, they keep saying that they can.

From the above, do you really think that umno has changed. It seems that they want to keep lying to you, claiming that they had changed since the 308 tsunami. The actions by the EC, PDRM and the way the PM throws our money around at HS are solid proof that umno can never change. Whatever they do at HS are just to win your votes and nothing else.

Take whatever they gave you and make sure that you vote for Pakatan Rakyat/PKR, a party that is not 100% perfect but surely 100% better than umno.

Please note that I did not use bn as reference because, bn exist in name only and that umno is in full control of bn. BN IS UMNO - UMNO IS BN

An Appeal to HS Outstation Voters Please Come Home To Vote

Umno is now leading in this battle for Hulu Selangor.
"They are ignoring the Geneva Conventions and they are taking no prisoners. They are using all their heavy machinery's available to them such as the submarines, jet fighters, tanks and recruiting the PDRM and EC".

They are splashing out tonnes of CASH and GOODIES and will promise the voters the sky and stars (from past history, the promises which they never keep and honor), as these are only what they are good at to lure for votes.

Pakatan Rakyat is fighting this battle with only their bare hands. They need your help to fight the illegal might of umno. You can now no longer depend on mic, mca, gerakan or any component party of bn as bn exist in name only. UMNO IS BN, BN IS UMNO The latest proof of it is the selection of the candidate, umno choose and mic had to bow to umno's demand. The mic candidate has to bend down to kiss umno's leader and to embrace perkasa.

This is an appeal to all outstation voters, please come home and vote. The future of Malaysia is in your hand. Umno is a pain in the ass and hindrance for a progressive, a united Malaysian of all races and prosperous Malaysia.

Pakatan Rakyat is our only hope for a better Malaysia. They may not be 100% perfect but they are 100% better than umno.

Umno is now convinced and confident that they can win the Hulu Selangor P94 by election. It does not matter to them at all whether their campaigning are filled with slander, character assassination, lies, intimidation, distribution of cash and goodies in addition to the use of the EC and PDRM to ensure their victory. If these type of campaigning continues the next two days, I can agree with them that they will surely win.

It is now up to the voters of Hulu Selangor to seek for more information and details whether the campaigning by umno is righteous, following election applicable laws and what their speakers, especially the PM said are true and not camouflaged with lies and spins to win the voters hearts and minds.

This is what the PM told the voters at Hulu Selangor yesterday;
“I want to say that Malaysia has never kneeled before anyone. We met with Barack Obama as equals”

Is that a spin or a lie, of course Malaysia can never kneel before anyone but the question is, whether the PM is kneeling to the US and Obama?
One day Nazri said that "APCO the consultancy did a good job, as Obama had agreed to meet Najib at the sidelines of a nuclear security meet in Washington DC" and the next day he make a U turn and claimed that "APCO Worldwide, had nothing to do with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s meeting with US President Barack Obama".

Najib and Obama as equals, and if that is what the PM insist, can the PM clarify base on what standards and criteria are they equal? Obama is democratically elected as President by the white, black, yellow or brown Americans but who elected our PM.?

If Najib and Obama is equals, why the need for lobbying on the side to arrange for the meet? Can Najib tell us the truth, whether he wanted to meet Obama no matter what, even if the rakyat have to bare the cost of Ringgit77 million, or did Obama invited him officially.?

Hulu Selangor voters, I hope that you all are not blinded by the PM rhetoric and the huge amount of money and goodies being thrown at you. We have being lied again and again for over 50 years and this itself is proof that umno will never honor whatever they promise. Take their money and goodies by all mean but what you need to do on polling day is to vote for Pakatan Rakyat.

We need to inform 13000 Voters of change in Polling Station!

You may have read about the shifting of 13000 voters out of their old polling stations. Actually, it is more than 14000. The SPR should have informed them beforehand. The fact they failed to do so, smacks of male-fide (ill-intention).

To prevent confusion and chaos on polling day, we propose to send these voters a notification card of their new polling station. We need an army of volunteers with own transport to help. You will be provided with a list of names, cards and a map (Peter) to guide you.

On polling day itself, we hope to station guides at the Pondok Panas to notify those voters who come for checking and advise them of their correct polling station.

We will be grateful if you could sent out an urgent notice to get your friends to start by tomorrow morning.

Thank you

Reaching the mid point of campaigning and many analysts are predicting who will win base on race composition. Umno is taking charge in the campaign for the only Malaysian with multi racial names, Kamalanathan (kamal-alan-athan) and it shows very distinctly that umno requires the malay voters more in order to win.

The campaign by umno had being turned into slandering and character assassination. Drinking and gambling are the moral issues that they hit at Zaid Ibrahim without realising that most of umno' ministers, MP and adun were also at one time or another connected to these immoral acts.

Kamalanathan even declared openly that he believed in Perkasa's right to defend only the malays which confirmed that umno is perkasa and perkasa is umno. He claimed that the smear campaign was UMNO's idea and not his. What does these tell us about Kamalanathan, he is nothing but a puppet to umno/perkasa.

Today, Kamalanathan, put up a brave front by saying "Ask about what I can do, not what BN does". Really, what can you really do when mic for the past 52 years cannot do anything, especially for the Indians. Sadly no reporters pose this question back to him.

With four more days of campaigning, unless Zaid can turned the table on his moral issues, it looks likely that umno will sail through.

Thus, the winning formula for umno is, if umno can win 60% of Malay, 30% of Chinese and 60% of Indians votes, the calculations will be :

30% out of the 26.7% of Chinese votes = 8.01% of Total

60% of the 53.9% of Malay votes = 32.34% of Total votes

60% of the 19% Indian votes = 11.4% of Total

Thus 8.01% + 32.34% + 11.4% = 51.75%.

The winning margin will depend on the voters turnout.

To Hulu Selangor voters, is moral issue the only criteria for selecting your MP. It is no doubt that Zaid had done what he should not have but he had admitted and repented. The issue at hand is not about morality but if you insist that it is a concern, then it should apply across the board.

YB Lim Kit Siang, in his speech in Parliament had this to say:

I challenge UMNO and Muslim Ministers, in particular the Umno Youth leader and MP for Rembau Khairy Jamaluddin, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, the Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, the Deputy Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak whether they dare to declare that they had never drank alcohol in their youth in the past!

If having had drinks in the past incapacitates one from holding office, then we will lose half the Cabinet as well as the Malaysian Ambassador to the United States and we will need to have a by-election in Rompin.

Why is UMNO and Barisan Nasional so desperate in the Hulu Selangor by-election that they have to resort to such gutter politics?

My posting above had highlighted that Kamalanathan is nothing but a puppet to umno and we know that umno is not whiter than white and in fact they are immoral as well, they are arrogant, racist and corrupt.

We want change and Hulu Selangor by election is the catalyst to that change which is forth coming in the 13th General Election.

In closing, my opinion is that Zaid Ibrahim should be your choice as MP for Hulu Selangor.

Prior to the 308 tsunami, no one had an inkling or believe that this country is capable or with the possibility of having a two party system. It is the believe that Umno/BN can never be rooted from its control of the Federal Government. It's always a two third majority win for Umno/BN, albeit the fluctuation in the popular votes.

We do not need to go into details what causes the 308 tsunami as many had read or heard of the reasons for Umno/BN to lose its two third majority in Parliament and the falling of five States into the opposition hands.

The 308 tsunami eruption is not credited solely to Pakatan Rakyat but a combination of external forces including the NGOs, societies, professionals, intellectuals, prominent bloggers and religious groups. They are determined to see changes for a better Malaysia and many individuals from these external forces campaigned vigorously and even spoke at ceramahs to help Pakatan Rakyat. Most of them, if not all, feels that Umno/BN cannot be allowed to continue to plunder the country's wealth, causing racial and religious tension, injustice, outdated policies and Acts, two sets of laws and the many other unjustifiable "another project by barisan national" that causes much hardship to its citizens.

Hearing them speak at ceramahs, reading what they wrote on their blogs, articles by them being published on the online media, makes you feel and share their warmth, gratitude, sincerity, integrity and that the hope of change is inevitable.

That warmth, gratitude, sincerity, integrity and hope did not last long as a few elected officials within PR and some individuals from the external forces begin to show their true color. They cannot sustained their commitment for change and they started leaving with all kinds of excuses and reasons which I find are contradictory to what they had said before.

Now we are hearing of a third force, the force that claimed that they are there to served the rakyat fairly and equally and will not bow to Umno/bn nor PR. They are going to put up a handful of MP and Adun candidates to contest in the coming 13th GE, it means that they are not interested to form the Federal Government. Then, in GOD's name how are they going to serve the rakyat. There are always a handful of Opposition MP in Parliament and we can see that they cannot do much and even now with more than a third they are still handicapped.

So, the only way for a better Malaysia is to maintain the call for a change which was the rallying cry after 308 by Pakatan Rakyat together with the external forces.

But certain people are impatient, not for the change to happen, but for self interest. They are claiming that there are apparent lack of progress under PR ruled States, PR not keeping to their promises, not happy with the leaderships and all kind of non proven bad deeds by PR.

Holy toledo, they can give Umno/bn chance after chance spread over 50 years and they cannot even give PR a chance after only 2 years. From the way they scorned PR, we can see that they are only interested for positions and monies while the interest of the rakyat is least in their mind.

RPK put it in a better way:

If people want to merajuk (sulk) and leave PKR and join Umno or Barisan Nasional because they have been ‘ignored’ and ‘are not being recognised as the warlord’ of that particular constituency and are not being ‘rewarded for their loyalty to the party president’ then I have only one thing to say: go to hell.

An article by Antares is a must read;

No opposition party on its own had the wherewithal to combat the firmly entrenched power of BN - but towards the end of 2007 Anwar Ibrahim finally succeeded in pulling together the tripartite political coalition now known as Pakatan Rakyat.

DAP's emphasis on sound financial management, PKR's focus on social justice, freedom and human rights, and PAS's spiritual foundation combine to forge a conscious, functional union of Head, Heart and Soul.

Full article here.

We must always stick to our commitment to change for a better Malaysia and not waver should more recalcitrant leave and their working hand in hand with the evil forces trying to demoralised us.

It is going to be a hard and difficult fight but we must continue to fight and march on until we reached PutraJaya.

Pakatan Rakyat may not be that good but at least they are not that bad as compared to Umno/BN.

Today 20th April 2010 is Teoh Beng Hock's 31st birthday and if he is still alive today, he will be celebrating his birthday happily with his wife and new born child. But his life was taken away from him under suspicious circumstances. We need to know the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth.

Following photos and quotes taken from Teo Nie Ching FaceBook.

"Beng Hock's family arrive in court.. Notice the Kuih Lapis? It was made by Beng Hock's mum last night. It was Beng Hock's favourite."

"I felt extremely sad 4 Beng Hock's mum today. Bday of a child, is also the day of suffering 4 a mum. I know she misses her son badly, I know no one can replace Beng Hock in her heart, esp when Beng Hock was such a filial son. However, we will do our best to keep her and Beng Hock's family accompanied throughout the jou...rney to fight 4 justice. Many thanks to Yoke Kong 张玉刚, Chan Huan Guan, Duncan Lee Ching Hung, Mandy 汶汶 & Dapsy Serdang for joining me."

"It is sad that we have to "celebrate" Beng Hock's 31st bday in such manner, in such a place. A year ago, he was celebrating his bday with his gf/wife Cher Wei. Simple food simple cake, but they were so happy..."

"I can't imagine how Cher Wei is doing today, esp when all the memory flashback.. But Cher Wei, pls be strong, you know you are not alone, we share your loss, and we share your pain.."
