Whether you teach maths in Malay, English, Chinese, Tamil or whichever languages you want, ONE PLUS ONE will always equal TWO. When you lost in any competition, it means you lost and there is no way you can try to claim victory.

The official results for the Manek Urai by-election shows that PAS won by a 65 votes majority:

PAS, 5,348; Umno 5,283, majority, 65

Now the loser, umno, is trying to spin the result to show that they are the winner. They are trying to prove the impossible reasoning that 1+1 = 3 and a loser can be magically turn into a winner.

As far as I can remember there are quite a number of election results which umno won by a very slim margin, even lesser than the 65 won by PAS at Manek Urai, and what did they tell the world. They said that a win is a win, even if it is only by a one vote majority. If my memory is not wrong, this statement was also given by TM himself.

A real big present for umno najib's 100 days as PM, YOU LOST and please tell your media not to spin into overdrive that you won, it will backfire on you.

CONGRATULATION PAS YOU WON

CONGRATULATION NAJIB YOU LOST

  1. More importantly, congratulations to the 87% voter turnout!

This is what democracy is all about - participation!

No comments from me on the results as I would have preferred a result as follows :-

PAS wins with a reduced majority.

BN garners even less votes than 2008.

All independents combined has more votes than BN.

That would have been the ideal result for me. It would have signaled to UMNO/BN that their attempts at reforms is not real enough to be believed.

It would also signal to PAS that whilst we still support them for the sake of PR, they better get their act together fast and purge all those not for a collective better Malaysia.

Where are all those independents when we need them?

  2. Richard, my friends in Kelantan said 2 reasons why UMNO had a lot of votes: 1) They bribed people by offering money. 2) During the trasnfer of poll ballots from the various schools to the counting centre, "some people" placed pre-voted voting papers in the ballot. All the pre-voted papers were votes for BN. Despite all that, BN still lost. So I agree with you Richard, BN are losers and Congratulations to PAS for overcoming the challenges.
